Interactive
Interactive learning, when properly designed, is by far one of the best tools for retention of knowledge. This is where another great love of mine also comes in to play: Gamification. Don't simply think PBL's or points, badges and leaderboards...any dime-store eLearning and game developer can do those, and often over-do them. I'm talking about designing the experience around the four key personality profiles of gamers: Your Dominators, Expressers, Explorers and Achievers. Careful attention needs to be paid to what type of behaviour we elicit, i.e. what type of motivation the player or learner has, for example, 'gambling' behaviour vs 'discovery'. Some are healthy, some are not.
We've seen unprecedented success with stories and gamification in our products. Some clients send us data on how our courses are tracking, and we shatter expectations.
This is, of course, a budget intense process, but absolutely magical.
As technology evolves, we are also starting to produce actual games for eLearning, something I am very passionate about. Below is a simple example of a drum. Click it, rotate it and imagine the possibilities of having such an interaction as part of your training solutions.

Interactivity, whether in games, eLearning, virtual reality or simply elegant designs for interactive courses, combined with a strong narrative...this is the future in my opinion. Below is a portfolio of some of the interactive work we've done lately. All copyright in this gallery belongs to IQbusiness.
